Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has signed the state’s ₦1.85 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, describing it as a “breath of fresh air.”
Fubara signed the budget on Thursday at the Government House in Port Harcourt, expressing optimism that it would usher in greater development and cooperation in the state.
The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, said lawmakers reviewed the proposal and reduced the ₦6 billion allocation to PAMO University of Medical Sciences, with part of the funds redirected to primary healthcare.
The budget, tagged “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development,” was passed by the Assembly earlier on Thursday.
