Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on civil servants across Nigeria to provide practical solutions that will strengthen governance and improve public service delivery.
Speaking on Thursday while declaring open the 48th Meeting of the National Council on Establishment in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara said the civil service remains the engine room of governance and urged council members to adopt policies that address current challenges facing the public sector.
The governor, who noted that Rivers State is hosting the meeting for the first time, stressed that an effective, disciplined and motivated workforce is essential for government to achieve its objectives. He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, saying a productive civil service is key to sustainable development.
Fubara commended the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, for introducing reforms aimed at modernising the public service, adding that Rivers State would adopt some of the initiatives to improve its civil service.
In her remarks, Walson-Jack described the civil service as the backbone of governance, saying it remains the enduring institution that sustains government regardless of changes in political leadership.
