MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “My son, if sinner entice thee, consent thou not.’’ (Prov.1:10)
READ: EX.23:2
2 Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:
Influence is defined as an act or power of producing an effect without apparent exertion of force or direct exercise of command. Every day, we are surrounded with both positive and negative powers of influence. God recognizes these influences around His people thus, the timely warning, “if sinners entice thee consent thou not”. The word ‘entice’ used in this scripture simply means to lead someone away from usual or right course by offering some pleasure or advantage.
This is the reason why we have so much compromise or lowering of standards in Christendom today. Our youths are being influence by worldly fashions and amusements. They are uncomfortable anywhere standard are rigidly maintained. Overcoming evil influences is first an act of will. We have already stated that evil influences are all over the place. They look innocent, attractive and profitable. But fails woefully when weighed by the standard of the Word of God. The moment you understand the right standards and values, make up your mind to uphold them, no matter who is against you.
That it is a popular opinion does not make it right and that many people are subscribing to it does not mean it’s divinely acceptable. When it comes to the issues of right and wrong, the enemy comes with Juicy offers in your areas of weakness; this is why it is important to make up your mind on what to do before the offer comes.
