Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, says the 52 acres Abonnema/Obonoma sandfilling/land reclamation project in Akuku Toru local government area will be completed within 8 months.
The governor, disclosed this in a Facebook post on Wednesday. This was after the flag-off ceremony of the project by former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara.
He said the project is geared towards providing enough land to people of the area to meet their housing and property need, as land is a very scarce resource to people of the area.
“Land is a very scarce resource in our riverine areas. The Abonema/Obonoma land reclamation project is our effort to provide much needed land to meet the housing and property needs of our people. We expect the proect to be completed within 8 months as we are giving the contractor a 70% mobilisation,” he said.
“I thank the former President of the Nigerian Senate, Dist. Senator Adolphus Wabara for honouring our invite and the commissioning the 52 acres Abonema/Obonoma sandfilling/Land reclamation project in Akuku Toru LGA, Rivers State,” Wike added.
