MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle”. (Exo.33:11)
READ: EXO.33:8-11
8 And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up, and stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle. 9 And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses. 10 And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door. 11 And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle
Moses was one of the men in the bible that enjoyed very close intimacy with the Lord. One of the signs of genuine intimacy is unhindered communication. Communication in this sense is not just the passing and receiving of information but the establishment of a vital relationship built on total trust, integrity and proper understanding. After the many manifestations of God’s presence and power through Moses in Egypt and the wilderness journey he still demonstrated his hunger for more of God’s presence by praying, “Lord please show me your glory (Exo.33:18).
This was because he had a striving relationship with the Lord. He felt secured and at peace whenever he is in God’s presence. The Psalmist prayed “As the deer pants after the water brooks so my soul pants after you (Ps.40:2). Throughout his earthly ministry, Jesus enjoyed this level of intimacy with the Father. Most times, he spent the whole of the night on lonely mountains in deep communion with the Father (Lk.16:12). The Gethsemane Garden was not a strange location visited only on the night of betrayal. It was a usual location where Jesus resorted with the disciples for prayers and communion with the Father that was why Judas could locate it on that faithful night. Any moment spent in intimate communion with the Trinity is the most productive and most blessed moment of your life. Sweet communion does not happen by chance, it is the product of a lifelong relationship.
TURNING POINT: Any moment spent in intimate communion with the Trinity is the most productive and most blessed moment of your life.
PRAYER POINT: Draw me closer to You Oh Lord.
