The Rivers State Ministry of Health has sealed eight health facilities and arrested four persons for prosecution over alleged medical quackery, impersonation and operating unregistered facilities.
The enforcement exercise was carried out during the ministry’s October inspection as part of efforts to tackle illegal medical practices across the state.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr Vincent Wachukwu, disclosed this in an update on the state’s anti-quackery campaign.
Wachukwu said the exercise uncovered an illegal health facility operating within a residential compound at No. 27 Victoria Street.
The ministry has yet to provide further details on the identities of the arrested persons and the locations of the other facilities sealed.
The committee reiterated its commitment to eliminating medical quackery from the state’s healthcare system.
