The Federal Government has announced Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays in observance of the Eid-el-Kabir festival.
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement released on Monday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
According to the statement, the public holidays underscore the Federal Government’s recognition of the religious and cultural importance of the celebration to millions of Muslims in Nigeria and across the world.
Tunji-Ojo also extended his congratulations to Muslim faithful at home and in the diaspora, noting that Eid-ul-Adha symbolises sacrifice, obedience to God and compassion towards humanity.
