The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Rivers State has welcomed the dismissal of a suit challenging the emergence of its governorship candidate, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs.
In a statement issued by its Media Directorate on Thursday, the party said the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, presided over by Justice Muhammed Turaki, dismissed the case after the plaintiff, Kings Unyeawaji, withdrew the suit.
According to the NDC, the court’s decision has brought the legal challenge to an end and further strengthened the democratic process within the party.
The party said, “This development further strengthens the democratic process within our great party and clears the path for Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs to continue engaging the people of Rivers State with his vision of purposeful leadership, development, and prosperity.”
The NDC also commended the judiciary for upholding the rule of law and expressed appreciation to party members, supporters, and the people of Rivers State for their confidence and support throughout the legal proceedings.
The party urged its members to remain united, focused, and committed as it works towards strengthening the NDC and delivering quality leadership to the people of Rivers State.
