The Etche Local Government Council has assured a stranded indigene in Libya, Miss Eberechi Adaeze Hope, of its readiness to facilitate her safe return to Nigeria.
Chief Press Secretary to the Council, Dagogo Isaac, in a statement said, the Chairman, Hon. Boniface Njoku, gave the assurance while responding to an SOS appeal from Hope, an indigene of Okehi 1 in Etche LGA, who travelled to Libya to work as a domestic staff.
Hope was reportedly required to leave Libya following immigration reforms but could not raise the funds needed to purchase an air ticket to Nigeria.
Following her appeal, Njoku intervened and pledged the council’s support to facilitate her return, stressing the need to ensure her safety and protect her from potential risks associated with her immigration status.
The chairman also advised Etche indigenes planning to travel abroad to obtain the appropriate travel and immigration documents and comply with the laws of their host countries.
He said proper documentation would help prevent avoidable difficulties, humiliation and other challenges while living or working abroad.
