TEXT: GENESIS 7:7-18
MEMORY VERSE: “As the water rose higher and higher above the ground, the boat floated safely on the surface.” Genesis 7:18 NLT
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
Bible scholars (both theologians and evangelicals) have perceived Noah’s flood as a sample of judgment and salvationthrough Christ. Moreover, in Noah’s story, we see the presence of two points of view. These include judgment and salvation. These view-points present to us an ensample of the person of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament.
As we ponder over the incidence of Noah’s flood, we are confronted with the harsh truth of what humanity deserves for its sin and/or rejection of the Son of God. More accurately, the flood is an insight into the coming judgment, as the endtime draws nearer. Even Jesus Himself in Matthew 24:37 compares His return and the coming judgment to Noah’s flood in the Old Testament. Yet the final judgment will be far worse, for in this one, there will be no relief, whatsoever. Therefore, Noah’s flood becomes a forewarning to us of a greater and more terrible judgment to come. We must not takethis for granted.
Appreciably, as Noah passed through the waters of God’s judgment, so men and women (true believers), will safely pass through the greater outpouring of God’s wrath. Thanks be to God, as Jesus, in these later days, has come to save us from the wrath of God’s judgment. This judgment, Messiah Jesus took upon Himself on the Cross at Calvary. PraiseGod!
- There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Rom 8:1). Meditate on this scripture, in line with our lesson of today.
- Lord Jesus, as Thou has died for me, grant me the grace to follow through, so as to make it in the end.
