Emilokan: Tinubu Wins the Presidential Election

The presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been proclaimed the winner of the just concluded presidential election.

According to INEC, Tinubu won the general election having polled a majority of 8,794,726 votes and 25% requirements in over twenty-four states as required by the electoral act. The presidential candidates of the PD and LP garnered 6,984,520 votes and 6,101,533 votes respectively.

“That Tinubu Bola Ahmed of the APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” Professor Yakubu Mahmood, declared Tinubu President – Election on Wednesday morning. Four days after the elections.

Tinubu, 70, got the highest votes and won in 12 states to claim victory in the poll. A former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP won in 12 states too but got the second highest majority votes.

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State who ran on the platform of the Labour Party scored the highest votes in 11 states including Lagos the home state of Bola Tinubu + the FCT.
