Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has announced his resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate.
Lawal alleged that the ADC presidential primary was manipulated in favour of Atiku, stating that he would not be part of what he described as a “rigging machine” ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He further argued that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would perform better in office than Atiku.
Lawal also criticised the former vice president, describing him as incompetent and accusing him of promoting ethnic and religious divisions, while maintaining that he should not be entrusted with the nation’s highest office.
