The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, has approved a ₦200 million youth empowerment scheme aimed at supporting 400 young people across the Local Government Area.
Under the initiative, each beneficiary will receive ₦500,000 to support their businesses, economic aspirations and efforts towards self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
Pepple announced the scheme on Sunday during the Extraordinary Congress of the Bonny Youth Federation (BYF), held at the federation’s secretariat along Asimini Bypass Road, Bonny.
The chairman said the initiative reflected his administration’s commitment to youth development, human capital advancement and economic empowerment.
According to him, investing in young people is essential to building a productive, prosperous and sustainable society, adding that the scheme would create opportunities for youths to pursue their aspirations and contribute to the development of Bonny.
Pepple also pledged to provide a Hiace bus to the Bonny Youth Federation, the apex youth body in the Kingdom, to improve its mobility and support the coordination of its activities.
Speaking at the event, the Leader of the Bonny Youth Federation, Mr. Anthony Banigo, commended the chairman for his commitment to youth development and human capital advancement in the Local Government Area.
The congress also featured the presentation of an Award of Quality Leadership to Chairman Pepple in recognition of what the Bonny youths described as his exceptional leadership and performance in office.
