The Rivers State Government, through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, has called on residents of the state and Nigerians at large to support and vote for Miss Soye Karibi-George, popularly known as Tamunosoye, in her quest to win the Miss World 2026 crown.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Freddy Ndigbara, made the call in a statement issued by the ministry at the weekend.
Ndigbara described Karibi-George as a worthy representative of Rivers State and Nigeria, saying she is carrying the hopes and aspirations of the people as she competes on the global stage.
According to him, Karibi-George is “our idol, a strong bonding force for our youths and an encouragement to the younger generation.”
He said the contestant possesses all the requisite credentials to emerge victorious, stressing that votes, support and prayers from Nigerians would be crucial to her success.
The Permanent Secretary recalled that 25 years ago, another daughter of Rivers State, Agbani Darego, made history by winning the Miss World crown.
He said, “25 years ago, Miss Agbani Darego won the coveted crown. Now it is the time of Tamunosoye.”
Ndigbara therefore urged Nigerians to rally behind Karibi-George, noting that she is representing both Nigeria and Rivers State on the international stage.
