Boko Haram has released an obituary video for one of its cameramen and videographers, identified as Abu Salim al-Barnawi, who was reportedly killed by Nigerian troops during an attempted attack on a military camp.
According to PUNCH, the three-minute, three-second video, obtained on Wednesday, is narrated in Arabic and features al-Barnawi filming the group’s activities as well as taking part in several of its operations.
According to the Acting Military Information Officer of the North-East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Muhammed Goni, al-Barnawi had previously led raids into Cameroon before later joining the terrorist group’s media unit.
Sharing the video, Goni stated that it was an obituary released by Boko Haram in honour of the deceased raid commander and videographer.
