The Rivers State Police Command has presented cheques totaling ₦76,016,799.28 to families and beneficiaries of police officers who died in the line of duty.
Spokesperson of the command, ASP, Blessing Agabe in a statement said the presentation was carried out under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, as part of the welfare initiatives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to support families of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
Speaking during the presentation, CP Adepoju reaffirmed the IGP’s commitment to the welfare of police personnel and their families, stressing that the sacrifices of fallen officers would not be forgotten.
He expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General for his continued attention to the welfare of police officers and families of fallen heroes, noting that the financial assistance would provide meaningful support to the beneficiaries during the difficult period.
The beneficiaries thanked the Inspector-General and the Rivers State Commissioner of Police for the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of the Nigeria Police Force’s continued concern for the families of officers who lost their lives in service.
The Command said it would continue to prioritise the welfare of its personnel and honour officers who paid the ultimate price in the service of the nation.
