The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting maternal and child health through initiatives aimed at improving healthcare services, raising community awareness, and enhancing the well-being of mothers and children across the Niger Delta region.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD, made the commitment while extending warm felicitations to nursing mothers, families, and healthcare professionals as the world marks World Breastfeeding Week 2026.
The annual observance, held from August 1 to 7, is themed “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”
Ogbuku encouraged nursing mothers to embrace exclusive breastfeeding in line with recommendations by health experts, describing the practice as a vital investment in building healthier families and ensuring a more sustainable future for generations to come.
