The Nigerian Army has reportedly arrested two soldiers for allegedly providing unauthorised security at the wedding of social media personalities Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, and Jarvis, held in Lekki over the weekend.
The soldiers, identified as Privates Onasanya Ifeoluwa and Ukpai Onyinyechi, are attached to the Nigerian Army Medical Services and Hospital in Obalende, Lagos. Their arrest was confirmed on Tuesday by the spokesperson for the 81 Division, Lt.-Col. Musa Yahaya.
According to the Army, the personnel were detained over an alleged unauthorised deployment after videos from the wedding surfaced online showing them in military uniforms carrying out security duties and escorting guests.
One of the viral videos allegedly showed a soldier escorting TikTok personality Ivanna through the crowded event, attracting widespread attention on social media.
The development has generated public debate, with many Nigerians questioning whether serving military personnel were officially authorised to provide security at a private celebrity wedding.
