Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has reacted to the move by the Federal Government to rehabilitate the Port Harcourt refinery.
The Federal Executive Council, met yesterday and approved the sum of $1.5 bilion for the contract.
Shortly after the approval, Gov. Wike in a live TV interview said the approval is one of the empty promises by the Buhari-led administration.
The Governor, said this is not the first time the APC- led Federal Government would be making such promises.
He also stated that before APC took over power, they promised a lot of things but have failed to fulfill any of them.
“We know, even before the (APC) government came into being, they have promised a lot of things and later they come up to say because of these challenges and that, they are not able to fulfill them,” he said.
“…it will improve a lot of economic activities, there will be employment for the people of the state. We will be happy but I am saying that we have had these promises and promises and nothing has happened. So, I don’t want to begin to say hallelujah. Let us wait and see what will happen based on the approval,” Wike added.
