Elder statesman, Anabs Sara-Igbe, has blamed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for the delay in the appointment of commissioners and what he described as the absence of democratic governance in Rivers State.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Sara-Igbeh alleged that governance in the state has been stalled because of Wike’s insistence on determining those who occupy government offices.
According to him, the quest by the former Rivers governor to appoint all government officials has delayed the constitution of the state executive council and hindered effective governance.
Sara-Igbe further claimed that democratic governance in Rivers State has been undermined, alleging that the state has been “captured” by Wike with the backing of the Federal Government.
He also criticised the political class, saying they had failed the people of Rivers State. The elder statesman urged residents to make informed choices in the forthcoming elections, insisting that the current leadership had failed to meet the expectations of the people.
