Content creator MC Mbakara has explained why he did not attend the wedding ceremony of TikTok stars Peller and Jarvis, citing disagreement over the event’s invitation process.
Speaking on the matter, Mbakara said he found it disrespectful to be asked to buy the wedding’s aso ebi before receiving an invitation.
According to him, as a chief and an elder, he should not be required to purchase aso ebi to attend the ceremony.
He further claimed he was informed that guests who did not buy the aso ebi would have to pay to obtain an invitation card (IV), a condition he said he considered inappropriate.
“I’m a senior man. You can’t tell me to buy aso ebi. At my age, a chief, that’s disrespectful. Then I was told that if I didn’t buy the aso ebi, I would have to pay to get an IV. I told him that wasn’t right. I could decide to give you $5,000 on your wedding day, but saying I must buy the aso ebi before I can get an invitation doesn’t make sense,” Mbakara said.
