On this World Day Against Child Labour with the theme “Social Justice for All. End Child Labour!” former Rivers lawmaker, Victoria Nyeche has called on government at all levels to ensure all children are in school for a brighter future.
Nyeche in a statement advised government to ensure the arrest of parents and guardians who deny their children/wards the opportunity of going to school.
According to her, parents of children seen hawking during school hours should be arrested.
She also advised the government to enforce free education, so there will be no excuse for parents not to send their children to school.
Nyeche stated that children have the right to quality education, adding that parents should be the ones taking care of their children and not the other way round.
