Resident Doctors at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) have announced that they will not join the ongoing strike as directed by the National leadership of National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD).
Chairman of NARD at UPTH, Ahmed Samuel who disclosed this to Journalists yesterday, said their decision not to join the strike is primarily because patients currently receiving treatments will suffer severely, if they do.
He noted that so many of their colleagues are currently been infected and are undergoing treatment. Joining the strike will affect them severely, he pointed out.
Ahmed called on the government to address the issues raised by the national leadership, as doctors need to be taken care of.
The National leadership of the NARD commenced an indefinite strike yesterday, after giving the government a 14-day ultimatum to address issues they had earlier raised.
