President Bola Tinubu has expressed condolences to the family of former Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, who died at the age of 71.
Tinubu, in a condolence message issued by the State House on Monday, October 19, 2026, described Uduaghan as a public servant whose leadership was devoted to the development of Delta State and service to Nigeria.
The President noted that the late governor served as Commissioner for Health and Secretary to the State Government before being elected governor in 2007.
He said Uduaghan’s two-term administration, which ended in 2015, placed him at the centre of Delta State’s political and developmental journey.
According to Tinubu, the former governor pursued initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare delivery and the overall welfare of the people of Delta State.
He added that Uduaghan remained active in the state’s political and socio-economic landscape after leaving office, contributing to democratic governance and public service in Nigeria.
The President described his death as a great loss to his family, community, Delta State and the country.
Tinubu urged the people of Delta State to draw strength from the late governor’s years of service and the relationships he built across Nigeria’s political and social landscape.
He also extended his condolences to Uduaghan’s wife, Roli; his children; his cousin and former Delta State Governor, James Ibori; as well as his friends and political associates.
The President, on behalf of his family, the Federal Government and the people of Nigeria, prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort all those mourning him.
