Abuja – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the employment of 774 National Health Fellows as part of a Federal Ministry of Health initiative to strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare system.
Tinubu made the announcement on Thursday during the programme’s launch at the State House in Abuja, attended by senior government officials, development partners, and traditional leaders, including the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III.
The fellows, selected from each of Nigeria’s local councils, were chosen based on recommendations from Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate. Pate highlighted that the fellows emerged from a pool of 360,000 applicants through a merit-based selection process.
