A suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated in the early hours of Wednesday at the Bayelsa State Secretariat Complex in Yenagoa, causing a temporary disruption of official activities and prompting an immediate security response.
The blast reportedly occurred this morning leading to the swift deployment of security personnel to the scene. Operations within the secretariat were briefly affected as authorities moved to secure the area and assess the situation.
The Bayelsa State Police Command confirmed the incident and assured the public that there were no injuries or loss of property.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police, CP Iyamah, said security agencies responded quickly and brought the situation under control, adding that investigations are ongoing.
