The Bayelsa State Police Command confirmed the arrest of a 60-year-old man identified as Pentecost Elijah in connection with the bomb explosion at the Bayelsa State Secretariat Complex in Yenagoa.
In a statement, the police spokesperson said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Iyamah Daniel Edebor, immediately led the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, the Special Drone Unit, and other tactical teams to the site, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
Another unexploded device was safely neutralized, and no lives or property were lost.
The statement confirmed that the suspect is undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department and will be charged in court once the investigation concludes. Authorities assured the public that the situation is under control and normal activities have resumed
