The Federal Road Safety Corps in Rivers State, has dismissed claims that their are spirits on the roads claiming lives during ember months.
Acting Spokesperson of the Corp, Juliana Ugo in a statement yesterday said the belief is false.
She said crashes occur this period because a lot of people are on the road going for one function or the other, and due to the rush by most persons to achieve certain things before the yuletide.
She advised drivers to avoid taking alcohol and drugs while driving and have adequate rest to keep them fresh on the job.
Mrs Juliana also stated that the command has deployed its officials on strategic roads in Port Harcourt, to ensure road safety and traffic decongestion.
She said they have also provided canopies at Choba and Bori junctions, where drivers and passengers on transit can rest.
She also advised drivers to call their toll free number, 112 in case of emergency.
