The Prof. Okechukwu Onuchuku Foundation, also known as SIMAS Foundation, has distributed writing materials to pupils and students in selected schools across Emohua, Rivers State, as part of efforts to promote and encourage education among young people.
Secretary of the group, Prince Obilor in a statement said the outreach, was aimed at supporting pupils and students, irrespective of their backgrounds, in pursuing their educational aspirations.
He said the team led by its coordinator, Dr Bright Kemkanma Aborh, visited schools in Rumuohia, Rumuche, Rumuakunde, Mgbueto, Mgbuitanwo, Isiodu, Elibrada and Oduoha, where the educational materials were distributed.
Speaking during the exercise, Vice-Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Prof. Okey Onuchuku who was represented by Chief Emmanuel Okogbule urged the students to cultivate the habit of reading, describing it as a vital tool for advancing their educational pursuits.
He said, Okogbule assured that the next edition of the foundation’s Back-to-School Programme would be more impactful.
He urged students who did not benefit from the current distribution to remain patient, expressing hope that they would have an opportunity to benefit in subsequent editions.
