Vice President Kashim Shettima has commenced a two-week leave following approval by President Bola Tinubu, marking his first official break since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, said Shettima would use the leave for study, reflection and intellectual renewal aimed at enhancing his capacity for national service.
Nkwocha explained that the period would allow the Vice President to assess the administration’s ongoing programmes, deepen his understanding of emerging national and global policy issues, and prepare for upcoming responsibilities as the Federal Government advances the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Office of the Vice President noted that since taking office, Shettima has played a key role in coordinating and overseeing several strategic government initiatives, including economic development, food security, humanitarian affairs, digital transformation, job creation and regional cooperation.
