The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu (SAN), says Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew was never appointed by the Federal Government and that the appointment letter he presented as Director-General of the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) was forged.
Speaking in Abuja while presenting findings of the commission’s 30-day investigation, Aliyu said the PFIPC was never created by any law or executive order, and no Federal Government funds were approved or disbursed to the fake agency.
He added that Adeyemi allegedly created two other fictitious agencies using forged legislative documents to open bank accounts. The ICPC recommended his prosecution, sanctions for negligent public officers, and institutional reforms, noting that investigations into his activities, bank accounts and collaborators are ongoing.
As of the time of filing this report, Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew had not publicly reacted to the allegations and findings contained in the ICPC’s interim report.
