The Social Democratic Party in Rivers State, has called for the resignation of the Chairman of Rivers state Independent Electoral Commission, Retd Justice George Omereji over alleged irregularities which marred Saturday’s local government elections in the state.
The State Chairman of the party, Sosuma Osaro said this during a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
He said the entire election should be cancelled because the People’s Democratic Party, connived with RSIEC to hijack the process.
He said there were reported cases of missing original result sheets; shortage of voting materials, substitution of Adhoc staff with PDP members, among others.
Meanwhile the electoral umpire has been releasing results of yesterday’s election, with the PDP winning all the LGAs announced so far.
