RVSG denies report on not taking samples to UPTH for testing

COVID-19 Rivers State

The Rivers State Government has denied reports allegedly making rounds that Gov. Wike ordered that samples from the state isolation centre should not be taken to the UPTH for testing.

Commissioner for Information and communication, Paulinus Nsirim made this known in a live interview on radio Today May 16 2020. He described the statement as uncharitable. Paulinus stated that as long as you live and do business in the state, irrespective of your tribe and religion, the governor cannot and does not discriminate against anybody. The fight against COVID-19 is a collective one, the governor cannot do such a thing, he noted.

Meanwhile, the state recorded zero cases of the COVID-19 yesterday. The state still has 30 cases of the COVID-19, with 10 discharged and 3 deaths. This is according to the state inter-ministerial committee on COVID-19.

The NCDC, announced 288 new cases of the virus yesterday. The centre made this known in its daily update of the virus, on its twitter handle.
