The Rivers State Government, has reacted to claims by teachers in the state that they are being owed allowances and other benefits.
The state chairman of the NUT, in the State, Comrade Nkpogone Lucky had made the allegation during an interview today, in Port Harcourt to mark this year’s World Teachers Day.
He also alleged that the obnoxious pension law in the state, was causing untold hardship to retired teachers.
However, the State Commissioner for Education, Kaniye Ebeku in a statement denied the claims, adding that teachers are not being owed in the state.
He said as a government the welfare of teachers has been one of their priorities.
