The Rivers State Government has announced that the new index case of the COVID-19 is a 61-year-old hotel manager in Port Harcourt, who had attended to his boss upon his return from Abuja few weeks ago.
Commissioner for Health, Prof. Princewill Chike in a COVID-19 briefing in Port Harcourt today said, samples were collected from the hotel manager for testing and the result came out positive.
He stated that the COVID-19 team got the information of the mysterious death of the returnee and acted swiftly. All contacts have been placed under surveillance, he noted.
Prof. Chike who said the patient had been evacuated to a medical facility for treatment, urged residents to report all COVID-19 symptoms to the hospital.
