Death toll from the explosion in Rumuekpe community, in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State has risen from 12 to 20.
His Royal Highness, Eze Christian Evekwuru Paramount Ruler of Rumuekpe Community, confirmed this in a chat with journalists at the weekend.
According to him, oil companies operating in the community have allegedly refused to employ their youths, as he blamed the incident on poverty and hunger.
He also said efforts to draw the attention of the Federal Government to their plight had proved abortive, and commiserated with the affected families.
