The Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board (RSPHCMB) has commenced preparations for its 2027 Annual Operational Plan (AOP), following a two-day planning workshop to review the implementation of its 2026 plan.
The workshop, held at the Board’s headquarters provided an opportunity for participants to assess achievements, identify gaps and draw lessons to guide the development of the 2027 operational plan.
Participants included directors, Medical Officers of Health from the 23 local government areas, Basic Health Care Provision Fund focal persons, National Health Fellows and programme leads.
In his remarks, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr Dede Seiyofori, emphasised the need to evaluate achievements, identify outstanding tasks and determine areas requiring changes.
“We needed to review our achievements, the level of implementation and then prioritise and restrategise,” Seiyofori said.
The workshop examined key primary healthcare priorities, including leadership and governance, equitable and quality healthcare delivery, maternal and child health, health security and digital health.
Discussions also covered performance monitoring, health-worker training, community awareness and the integration of new approaches into primary healthcare services.
The Board said findings and lessons from the 2026 review would inform the 2027 AOP, with the aim of developing a more focused and evidence-based plan to strengthen primary healthcare delivery across Rivers State.
