The Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board (RSPHCMB) has delivered an operational vehicle to the Ikwerre Local Government Area to strengthen supportive supervision across health centres in the area.
The agency in a statement said the vehicle was received by the Medical Officer of Health, Ikwerre LGA, Dr Laurent-Ordu Vivean, who said it would improve the monitoring and supervision of the 15 health facilities under the LGA.
The facilities comprise 11 Model Primary Health Centres (MPHCs), three Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and an Infant Welfare Clinic (IWC) in Isiokpo.
Dr Vivean said the facilities are spread across Ikwerre, making transportation a major challenge to effective supervision, particularly for facilities located far from the LGA headquarters in Isiokpo.
She identified Apani Health Facility as one of the farthest facilities from the LGA headquarters, adding that the operational vehicle would make supportive supervision more efficient.
“I am grateful to RSPHCMB. Supportive supervision will be more efficient with this initiative,” she said.
