The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the alleged murder of a young man, Leonard Chika by unknown cultists at Mile 3 Diobu, Port Harcourt Rivers state.

Spokesperson of the state police command, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident to journalists yesterday. He said efforts are being made to arrest the suspected killers and bring them to justice.
Omoni stated that the police were able to identify the deceased as he was taken to the mortuary. He said they suspect it was a cult clash but investigations are still going on to confirm that.
Facebook user, Ezebunwo Ichemati, who shared the story online, said the deceased, a hardworking young man was killed in front of his girlfriend. He stated that Leo was allegedly mistaken for a cultist, as two cult groups have been locked in a fierce battle for about five weeks now, killing and injuring each other. This is in their bid for control over who takes daily tax, popularly known as “marching grants” from traders and motorists in the area.
The Facebook user who blamed officers of the Mile 3 police station for not doing enough to arrest the situation, said they cannot claim ignorance of the atrocities going on, for weeks in the area. He said the murder of Leo brings the total number of deaths as a result of the cult clash to five in the area.
