The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a yet-to-be identified PDP party chieftain in Port Harcourt, on Monday.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident in a statement, dismissed reports that two police officers died in the attack.
She said the Commissioner of Police, Okon Effiong, has deployed tactical teams to secure the release of the abducted man.
We gathered that the incident occurred along Jephtha East-West road in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
Sources say the gunmen opened fire on the vehicle and shot dead a driver and a civilian that were part of the convoy of the party chieftain.
