The Rivers State Police Command has warned those planning to stage a protest to do so within the armbits of the law.
The Commissioner of Police in charge of elections in the state, Aderemi Adeoye who gave the warning in a statement yesterday, said protests should be peaceful and civil.
According to him, he has instructed officers to use soft materials in dispatching protesters, adding that anyone who wields any weapon will be brought down.
The CP, explained that the law gives the Police the right to dispatch violent protesters by force, and warned residents to desist from causing trouble.
He also revealed that the command has arrested 14 persons over alleged involvement in electoral violence in last saturday’s presidential election across the state.
