The Rivers State House of Assembly committee on Health has made moves to provide care for mentally disordered persons especially those on the streets
The house committee chairman on health, SAM OGEH said this at the assembly auditorium complex in Port-Harcourt during a public hearing of a bill to establish the Rivers State mental health service to provide for the protection and care of the mentally challenged persons and persons suffering from substance abuse and for connected purposes..
Ogeh, said when passed, the law will ensure that the mentally challenged persons will be removed from the streets for effective medical attention.
The state Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association NMA, EBBI ROBINSON while commending the state assembly for the bill said the bill will bring sanity to the health sector especially the mentally challenged persons in the State.
