The Rivers State Government says it has set up a committee to investigate the cause of fire incidents across the state.
The state Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Onowu disclosed this to journalists today, while assessing the level of damage caused by fire at an uncompleted building in Rumuokoro at the weekend.
He stated that the building would be confiscated and used for another project, if the owner fails to hand himself to relevant authorities.
He stressed that anyone found wanting will be seriously dealt with, as the Governor has issued a one week ultimatum for investigation to be completed and findings submitted to him.
Mr onowu condemned the illegal oil refining activity and cautioned those involved to desist from the act.
