The Rivers State Ministry of Health will on September 28 begin sealing health facilities operating with expired Certificates of Standard across the state.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Vincent Wachukwu, announced this in a notice issued on Friday.
The ministry said over 60 per cent of registered health facilities had failed to renew their certificates despite repeated reminders and official calls.
It warned that affected facilities would remain sealed until they comply with the inspection and certification requirements, while offenders could also face fines, suspension of operations and possible prosecution.
The ministry directed all affected facilities to immediately apply for renewal, complete the required inspection and certification processes before September 28, and submit proof of compliance to the Directorate of Medical Services.
It stressed that only facilities with valid Certificates of Standard would be allowed to continue operating.
“The Rivers State Ministry of Health will no longer tolerate disregard for regulatory standards. Protecting the lives of our citizens is paramount, and all health facilities must operate within the law. Compliance is not optional—it is mandatory,” Wachukwu said.
