The Rivers State Ministry of Education has extended the deadline for the Digital National Education Management Information System (D-NEMIS) School Census Data Upload Exercise to Saturday, November 14, 2026.
The extension, approved by the Federal Ministry of Education, provides a final opportunity for approved private schools in the state that have been assigned D-NEMIS codes but are yet to complete their 2025/2026 school census data uploads.
In a notice issued by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mina Tele Ikuru, on behalf of the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Peters Nwagor, private school proprietors and heads were urged to take advantage of the extension to complete the exercise.
The Permanent Secretary explained that the data collected through the D-NEMIS portal would support educational planning, equitable resource allocation and evidence-based policy development, stressing that the exercise was not intended for punitive purposes.
To assist affected schools, the Ministry has established a Data Upload Support Centre at Government Girls’ Secondary School, Rumuokuta, Port Harcourt.
The centre will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, and Saturday, November 7, as well as daily from Monday, November 9, to Saturday, November 14, 2026.
However, the Ministry warned that compliance with the census exercise is mandatory, adding that schools that fail to upload their data before the extended deadline may face regulatory sanctions.
Such sanctions, according to the notice, include the withdrawal or revocation of operational licences and possible disqualification from registering candidates for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE).
The Ministry therefore urged all affected private school proprietors and heads to complete their uploads within the stipulated period to avoid disruptions to their operations and students’ examination registrations.
It also appreciated private school stakeholders for their cooperation and continued partnership in advancing quality education in Rivers State.
