The Rivers State Government says it has developed an APP for the monitoring of wastes in the state.
The Sole Administrator Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Bro Felix Obuah made this known when the Commissioner of Energy and Natural Resources, Dr. Peter Meede and his team paid in a courtesy visit in his office.
He revealed that the state agency holds the record as the first in the country to develop an APP for monitoring of wastes across the country.
The meeting was to seek a partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources on the recycling of wastes generated in the state into natural energy.
Obuah during the meeting equally noted that the agency has created three dumpsites in the state making total number of sites in the state, four.
“It’s also worthy of mention that on assumption of office, we inherited only one functional dumpsite from the previous administration situated at Rumuolumeni close to Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, which was later abandoned following complaints and pressure from the university…” he said.
The State Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources, Dr. Peter Medee in his remarks said the initiative will create massive wealth and employment for Rivers youths. He lauded the agency for the development of the App and its achievements in the area of waste management in the state.
