The Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) has opened dedicated telephone and WhatsApp lines for residents of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area and Obio/Akpor to report unattended refuse and request prompt evacuation.
The agency urged residents who notice uncollected waste in their streets or neighbourhoods to contact RIWAMA through 0704 100 9922 or WhatsApp 0802 833 9992.
Residents are expected to provide a photograph of the waste, their location and a brief description of the situation to enable RIWAMA response teams to intervene promptly.
RIWAMA also reminded residents to comply with the approved waste disposal period of 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily, warning against dumping refuse outside the designated hours.
The agency further advised residents not to patronise unauthorised waste collectors, noting that such operators may dispose of waste indiscriminately.
RIWAMA said residents should use only agency-approved waste contractors as part of efforts to maintain a clean and healthy environment across the state.
The agency stressed that keeping Rivers State clean is a collective responsibility and encouraged residents to report waste-related violations promptly.
