A tragic accident along the Emohua–Choba axis of the East-West Road on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, claimed the lives of two people, including a student returning from a WAEC examination.
According to eyewitnesses, the students were travelling from Emohua to Choba on a motorcycle after sitting for their examination when a trailer collided with them near the Choba Bridge.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, as it remains unclear whether the trailer or the motorcycle was attempting to overtake when the collision occurred.
The impact of the accident resulted in the immediate death of one student and the motorcycle rider.
Three other students sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Accident and Emergency Department of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) for treatment.
The injured victims are currently receiving medical care and remain under observation, while the bodies of the deceased have been deposited in a mortuary.
