Residents of demolished Iloabuchi Waterfront in Diobu, Port Harcourt, are currently at the Rivers State High court, for commencenent of hearing in a suit instituted by them against the state government, over what they described as unlawful demolition of their homes.
The residents, are accusing the state governor of demolishing their buildings without due compensation.
Some of them had in a chat with us, described the demolition as “an act of wickedness” adding that the time frame for them to vacate was too short.
Our correspondent who visited some streets along the affected area, confirmed that some persons were still sleeping by the road side more than a week after the demolition.
While others pleaded with the state government to come to their aid, by providing alternative shelter for them.
