A woman, Oluchi Nkemjika accused of pouring hot water on her 9-year-old maid has been remanded in custody by a Chief Magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt.
Chief Magistrate S.N Harry adjourned the matter to December 6, 2021. This was after the accused pleaded not guilty to the crime.
The Magistrate, also ordered that the case file be transferred to the Department of Public Prosecution for advise.
The woman was arrested last week by the Police, after her neighbours raised an alarm when the incident was noticed.
Meanwhile, Mr Sam Ike, Chairman of Paradise Estate, Elimgbu, where the accused lives has called for justice to be served in the matter.
He had accused Mrs Oluchi of always torturing the little girl at every little provocation.
